The Silver Libertad has been issued by Mexico's national mint (Casa de Moneda de México) since 1982. One troy ounce of .999 fine silver. The reverse shows the Winged Victory statue (El Ángel de la Independencia) in front of the volcanic peaks of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. The obverse displays Mexico's coat of arms surrounded by historical coats of arms. Like the gold version, the Libertad carries no stamped face value; it is legal tender backed by the Banco de México, valued by silver content. Mintage tends to be lower than other sovereign bullion programs, which often results in slightly higher premiums. IRA-eligible.
